Services

The services below are designed around the main essay — the Common App personal statement for undergraduate admissions, or the primary personal statement for graduate and professional school applications. These are the essays that carry the most weight and deserve the most attention.

Looking for help with school-specific supplemental essays? Those shorter pieces have their own place in the process — and their own options. See Supplemental Essay Bundles below.

Brainstorming & Topic Development

This is where it all begins. And for most students, it’s the step they didn’t know they needed.

Before a single words gets written, we sit down together (virtually or in person) and talk. What matters to you? What have your lived through, figured out, or quietly relished? What do you know how to do that you’ve never really thought to name? In a focused one-hour brainstorming session, we discover the raw material that makes your story yours. Then we map a strategy for turning it into an essay readers will remember.

You don’t need to arrive with an idea. You just need to show up.

This is the right starting place if you haven’t begun your essay yet, which, by the way, describes most of the students I work with.

One-hour brainstorming session – $125

Structuring & Drafting Support

You’ve got something to say. Now let’s figure out how to say it.

This is the heart of the writing process—where a promising idea becomes an actual essay. We work on structure, the narrative shape, and the specific details that bring your story to life. You’ll draft, I’ll give you detailed feedback on content, organization, and voice, and then you’ll draft again. (That’s not a punishment. That’s just how good writing works.)

Most clients go through two rounds of feedback at this stage. Some need one. Some need three. We go until it’s right.

Already started your essay and hit a wall? This is exactly where to jump in.

Developmental feedback, per round – $75

Polish your story

Revision & Final Proofing

You’re close. Let’s get you there.

This final stage is about making sure your essay is the best possible version of itself before it goes anywhere near a submit button. We look at sentence-level clarity, word choice, rhythm, and voice (again). Then we do a careful proofread to try to catch anything subpar or inconsistent that might be trying to sneak through at the last minute.

Small things matter at this stage. A clunky sentence in paragraph two. A word repeated four times. An ending that fades when it should land. Fresh eyes catch what tired ones miss.

If you have a solid draft but aren’t quite confident it’s ready, this is your next step.

Final proofread – $70

The Complete Start-to-Finish Experience

This is the whole journey, start to finish, from “I have no idea what to write about” to “I can’t believe that’s my essay.”

Your Full Story bundles all three stages of the coaching process: the brainstorming session, two full rounds of developmental feedback, and a final proofread. It’s the right fit for students who want consistent support across the entire arc of writing—one coach, one process, one essay what actually sounds like the writer.

It’s also, honestly, the most rewarding thing I do.

If you one coach in your corner for the entire writing journey, from blank page to final draft, this one is for you.

One brainstorming session + two rounds of developmental feedback + final proofread = $295. Additional feedback rounds, if needed, are $75 each.

School-Specific Essays

Every school on your list wants to know the same thing, really: Why us? And why you?

Supplemental essays, the shorter, school-specific pieces that show up alongside your main application, exist to help admissions teams figure out fit. Which students will thrive here? Who will contribute something real to this community? Who actually wants to be here, not just anywhere that will take them?

Here's the thing about fit, though: you can't fake it well. Trying to guess what a particular admissions office wants to hear is a losing battle. They've read every version of that essay, and the performative ones never land. The students who stand out are the ones who show up as themselves. Not who they think the school wants, not a carefully constructed impression—just the real, specific, particular them.

That's what we're going for here. Every essay. Every school.

Note: The bundles below apply to any school-specific short essay—college supplementals, honors college applications, and scholarship essays all count. If it's program-specific and under 500 words, it fits here.
